Due to the high safety rating of dry-type transformers, they are often installed indoors in relatively dust-free environments. At the same time, however, they are very versatile in their applications and can just as easily be placed in more demanding outdoor environments including coal mines – where they can be housed in ingress protected enclosures. Nonetheless, these dusty conditions will mean that servicing should be conducted more frequently. Trafo Power Solutions recommends a service interval of a year for most indoor applications, while those operating in more demanding outdoor applications should be serviced twice a year.
