Dry-type transformers, including either cast resin or VPI technology, provide a safe, reliable and responsible environmental option in energy distribution applications. Unlike conventional transformers which use oil as a coolant, dry-type technology relies on variants of air cooling and there is no risk of spillage, fire or explosion. This makes these transformers a safer option.
Sometimes referred to as cast resin transformers, dry-type transformers can be installed inside buildings, without their own costly infrastructure or construction work. Their high safety rating even allows them to be placed in areas classified as hazardous.
They are also robust enough to operate reliably outdoors, and can be protected from water and dust ingress.
